The Heron House is an outstanding oasis in Hoi An. I highly recommend it. Located in the middle of rice fields, it is off the beaten path in Hoi An. It feels more private, but the old town and the beach are still only a short 5-10 minute ride away. If you want a bit of seclusion from the crowds of Hoi An, but easy access to all Hoi An offers, then this place is for you. The room is exactly as listed and pictured. The Green Room is thoughtfully designed and HUGE, with two sets of french doors that open up to the gorgeously-kept patio and pool. This indoor/outdoor feel was perfect for my two girls. The community living room kitchen is just outside the room, too, making it easy to grab one of the available board games or books (another nice touch for families). With only 3 rooms, the Heron House feels warm, relaxed, and homey. With fewer rooms, the able staff, including Loic and Van Anh, can really give personalized attention. They were always ready with a recommendation or even to go out and buy some local lunch. Loic enjoys experimenting with cocktails and food, so I much enjoyed the VERY reasonably-priced lavender-infused gin and tonic in the evenings and the included made-to-order breakfasts in the morning. The delicious homemade bread and jam, along with a fresh latte, were a real treat upon waking up! Another big positive was the beautiful pool. It’s a nice size and deep, with grass all around (a rare thing in Vietnam!). My girls swam happily for hours even after time at the beach. We’ve been traveling to Hoi An for nearly a decade now, and have stayed in many places. But in the Heron House we have found a new favorite. We will certainly be back many times. Thanks, Loic and Van Anh!
