“Our Best City Escape….Ever”
Our family booked a last- minute weekend getaway from Singapore at Heron House. Everything was perfect from the start. Loïc was quick to communicate – setting up airport transfers, child seats for the bikes and a poolside ‘al fresco’ movie night for the girls. We booked the whole villa (3 bedrooms) so we could relax and not worry about disturbing other guests. The rooms were spacious, airy & clean with a tasteful mix of local Vietnamese and French Colonial accents. The pool and in-room soaking tubs were a big hit with the kids. Hội An sunsets on the the wrap around terraces and in room wine coolers were a big hit with Mom and Dad. Prior to departing we were worried that the property may night have been maintained after years of COVID lockdowns. Happy to report that was not the case – it is exactly as pictured and as magical as ever. One thing the pictures can’t capture is the warmth and genuine kindness of the staff. The house manager Hoà in particular, was always available. A very seasoned hostess, she was quick to anticipate the needs of a small family and make appropriate recommendations for restaurants, directions, excursions etc.. She was so patient and accommodating with our picky 3-year-old for breakfasts requests. We felt like we were staying with family. The Villa is located conveniently between the old town and beach in a quiet little rice farming village away from the tourists and noise. Loïc and staff are well connected to the vibrant and diverse community of local businesses and seemed to be able to get anything you could imagine with a quick phone call. Last minute snorkeling/scuba? – set up the night before and a driver was waiting at the Villa by 8am. Mani/Pedi and massages? – arrived within two hours to pamper the girls. As you would have read from the other comments, Loïc has a passion for hosting and is an amazing chef. We arranged for a BBQ with a mix of Vietnamese specialties. It was a perfect last evening in Hội An and was a highlight of our stay. I highly recommend his lemongrass infused gin in tonic. Superb. We will be back and will be recommending Heron House to all our friends back home in Singapore. Thanks Loïc and team for the amazing memories.

“A Gorgeous Semi Private Oasis”
We cannot believe our good fortune for having stumbled upon this amazing guesthouse for our few nights in Hoi An last week. Not only is it a perfectly gorgeous oasis, but we had it to ourselves on the nights we were there. The landscaping is lush and beautiful with a divine and refreshing pool. The wrap around verandah and graceful architecture reminded me of the old colonial homes in Harare, where I used to live. Staying at the Heron House is peaceful, set within the rice paddies and an easy bike ride to An Bang beach… Hoi An is simply wonderful as its UNESCO label will attest, and well worth spending many hours of sightseeing and popping into the quaint shophouse stores and coffeehouses. But the real beauty of this area is found at Heron House, with the welcoming hosts, delicious food and wonderful tranquility this place affords. They also have lots of recommendations for places to eat and shop.

“Amazing Place on the River”
Attended a dinner featuring the chef of Le Comptoir, a French restaurant in DaNang. What can I say, free flowing wine and cocktails, electrifying conversation, the best hospitality and of course delicious food. Just a beautifully appointed property that felt like the best that Hoi An and Vietnam has to offer. Bravo!

“Incredible Stay at Heron House”
Wow, what an amazing stay we had at Heron House. At first I worried that it was a little out of the way, but was quick to realize that this one of the things I loved best about it. Tucked away, overlooking the rice fields, Heron House is stunning.
The staff were so attentive and helpful, highlighting all the best bits Hoi An had to offer – when we weren’t enjoying the chill vibe of Heron House and lounging by the pool.
Our room was so lovely, and the one day it rained gave us perfect reason to stay inside and enjoy just reading a book in comfort.
Thanks for our amazing stay Loic!

“A True Vietnamese experience”
If you want a real experience feeling, tasting and seeing Vietnam then stay at Heron House. It’s a genuine feel for being there. The accommodations are super clean and comfortable. The hosts and staff are super friendly and their insider knowledge will direct you to the best sights, restaurants and shopping. A wonderful place to stay, so much we will be back.

“Wonderful experience”
What a wonderful experience at the Heron House. After a long day of travel there was nothing better than being greeted by Van Anh and Loic with refreshing cocktails and duck from their BBQ smoker! Also, our room (the beautiful Yellow Room) had scattered rose petals upon arrival, a beautiful touch for me and my fiancé. The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and fresh, and the drinks were perfectly made (pomelo infused gin…don’t mind if I do). Another stand out was the view of the rice fields, we arrived just as work had started in harvesting the rice, a really unique experience away from the hustle and bustle of Hoi An’s center of town. I can’t recommend this place enough for couples seeking peace and beauty.

“Extraordinary house with extraordinary hosts”
Forget the five star deluxe hotels, find the real luxurious and personalised experience at the Heron House. This beautiful authentic villa, located in between the rice fields, is the best kept secret of Hoi An.
The bedrooms look gorgeous, they are all unique suites. Every detail is in the right place. I was there with a friend, but we said the suites look like honeymoon suites. When you wake up you can see the rice fields from your bed or your bathtub.
Every morning you can enjoy a delicious breakfast with fresh watermelon at the garden. After a day of sightseeing you can jump in the design pool and relax on a floating pineapple while enjoying one of their home made cocktails.
Did I already mention the hosts? Loic and Van Anh bring hospitality to the next level. They arrange special sightseeing tours, take you to the best tailor shop in town, cook delicious meals, will serve you the best cocktails and ensure that you feel relaxing and at home.
I will never forget this extraordinary house with these extraordinary hosts. I can truly say that the Heron House is paradise.

“Lilac gin… is sweet and heady…“
Within this outpost of civilization and good taste, you will find wine, music, architecture, fluffy cotton towels, a gorgeous black-bottom infinity pool, and best of all, two perfect hosts and conversationalists, Loïc and Van Anh Diels. The staff, trained by your hosts and some of their international colleagues in the hospitality industry, is attentive and unobtrusive, which, as travelers familiar with Vietnam will know, is a perk not to be taken for granted. You will remember forever the rice paddies that sprawl into the mountainous distance around you; the loafing water buffalos, the perching storks. You’ll remember forever the house cocktails, conceived and executed by Loïc the artist, of lavender and rosemary infused gins. I say artist instead of “mixologist” because the latter term smacks of too much science. Nothing about this stunningly renovated French Colonial plantation house with gorgeous flooring and fixtures feels like cold, hard science even if your hosts both have masters degrees in hospitality and likely orchestrate very much when you aren’t looking. Finally, there’s the pricing. Belgian beers and imported wines are priced seemingly at cost. Guests will note a sense of honest restraint where they might elsewhere expect absurd mark-ups and service fees associated with, say, having food delivered or day trips organized. Here again we see that at Heron House the dismal science of life is suppressed, and the art of it set free.

“Pre wedding night and wedding night spent in luxury!”
We were so very fortunate to be able to stay at Heron House the night of our wedding, and I also stayed the night before. Getting ready for our wedding day in such a picturesque setting was just amazing!
We loved the music playing throughout the house, the delicious jug of Bellini and Loic’s peri peri chilli oil. The pool also served the purpose of calming the nerves, the night before, & for reminiscing the day after.
We can’t thank Loic and Van enough & will definitely be coming back some time!

“Amazing Hoi An Getaway”
The attention to detail was evident. Loic and Van Anh were wonderful hosts and it was the perfect experience for my Dad and sister who were visiting Vietnam for the first time. It felt like we had most of the villa to ourselves even though there was another family there. The surrounding area is beautiful and you really feel like you are far away from the noise of the city. It was truly an amazing experience and I’m counting the days until I get to go back!

“Honest charm & Beauty”
Heron House is located in a small village between the town and beaches of Hoi An. It is surrounded by endless rice paddies, replete with wild birds, water buffaloes and lots of ducks. The setting is so rare and special. This small hotel has three spectacular suites, a beautiful living-ding room with staffed kitchen. Outside we found a nice pool and great garden. Aside from Heron House itself it is the experience of riding on bicycles along the dikes that hold back the paddies, seeing and appreciating a truly rural scene that is only minutes away from the beach and from ancient Hoi An. The staff and hosts were great in every respect. We will return !
